Xenia Kalogeropoulou was born in Athens and studied in London at the R.A.D.A. Returning to Greece, in 1959, she soon became a well known actress, having appeared in a great number of plays and films. She founded her own theatre company in 1965. She has played leading parts in plays by Shakespeare, Tchekhov, Brecht, Goldoni, etc, as well as by contemporary authors.
In 1972 she founded a second company, the MIKRI PORTA (The Little Door) which performs for young audiences and is considered as the leading Greek company in this field. Then she wrote 11 plays, which met with equal success. Bess (Eliza) (based on an Elisabethan play by Thomas Heywood), Sklavi (The Son of the Slave) (based on a folktale from the island of Simi which received the Greek Theatre Critic's Prize as best play for the 2000 - 2001 season), Grimm & Grimm, (based on four Folk tales of Brothers Grimm), Ela Ela and the plays of Beauty and the Beast, The Noah Family, The King Stag, Sleeping Beauty is Awake, Paramythissimo, The Lucky Soldier (written in collaboration with director Thomas Moschopoulos).
